BIC was incepted on the 8th of September, 2011 as a part of ‘The Work Foundation’ (former Industrial Society acquired by Lancaster University in 2010) in London by the then Director Professor Birgitte Andersen and Chairperson Mr. Will Hutton. The demerger happened in 2014 and the company was relaunched as BIC with Birgitte and Will as the co-founders.
In 2013, the company was chosen by the UK Government to take part in the G8 Summit delegation visit owing to the successful “Open Innovation Ecosystem Approach” to public policymaking. History repeated itself in 2014 as well with 27 Commonwealth nations delegation visits.
Another feather in the cap for the Big Innovation Centre was winning Think Tank of the Year by the Public Affairs Awards (PRCA) consecutively in 2018 followed by 2019.
Lord Tim Clement Jones and Professor Birgitte Andersen are the remarkable leads of our Advisory Board. Both of them are proficient in different subjects and bring their experience and knowledge to the table. Their wisdom, diverse perspective, consistent support and feedback help us deliver visible results to the society.
Our renowned Professor Birgitte Andersen is the advisor to national governments in Europe and including OECD, UN, and WIPO. She is a reputed academician with a doctorate in Economics from the University of Reading (UK), Masters and Bachelors degree in various disciplines.
