Task Forces: AI

BIC India intends to embrace one of the emerging technologies – Artificial Intelligence (AI).

BIC UK has been advocating this adoption over the last four years by collecting empirical data and acquired knowledge through the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence in the UK  (APPG-AI UK).

APPG- AI UK has set precedence for BIC to continue the same in India. Having gained a clear understanding of the socio-economic and ethical implications of adopting Artificial Intelligence to our society, we have chosen Task Forces that will focus on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Data Governance, Enterprise Adoption, and Education.

Enterprise Adoption of Artificial Intelligence

Adoption of Artificial Intelligence by corporates and organisations have become increasingly approved as they have realised the opportunities and benefits of implementing Artificial Intelligence entails. However, there are considerable barriers to implementing Artificial Intelligence in enterprises including lack of standard frameworks and relevant data.  Our Task Forces will help identify such barriers that impede AI implementation in Enterprises and will address important questions such as:
  • What are the biggest obstacles preventing enterprises from adopting AI and do they vary based on the industry?
  • How do we facilitate Indian Enterprises to adopt Artificial Intelligence complying with the Digital India Artificial Intelligence Policy Guidelines?
  • To what extent is Artificial Intelligence enabling better market relationships, what are we losing, and what are the risks?
  • What obligations do Enterprises have to customers when transactions are made via Artificial Intelligence applications?
  • What infrastructure does an Enterprise require to successfully adopt Artificial Intelligence?
Other activities that we conduct such as BIC Talks and Protocols will further discuss and identify the opportunities, threats, risks, and best practices for sustainable enterprise growth.

Data Governance

Big Innovation Centre India- Taskforces: AI

Data and Artificial Intelligence go hand in hand. Artificial Intelligence can only be effective with the right kind of data. Individual data, in particular, is of high value to the enterprises as their growth revolves around them. This definitely raises questions as to how the data is being collected, used, and stored.

Data Governance by BIC India will explore the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance focusing on how the data collected by AI systems are used and managed. Furthermore, it will explore the concept of data ownership, especially in a context where the vast majority of data today is generated by different sources.

Our Task Forces will address some crucial questions in the Evidence Meetings such as:

  • How is data being collected from individuals and used by Artificial Individual systems?
  • Who should oversee the usage of the collected personal data by Artificial Individual systems?
  • How can individuals claim control over the use of their personal data?
  • What are the various models of data ownership? What are the associated challenges and risks?

Education

We have identified a humongous potential of the role of Artificial Intelligence in the Indian Education system. Artificial Intelligence can be highly beneficial for the children, especially now with the New Education Policy 2020 that the Indian Government has announced recently.

Our Task Forces will attempt to address some very important questions in the Evidence Meetings such as:

  • How can Artificial Intelligence be used as a ‘tool’ in different learning environments across different subjects?
  • How can Artificial Intelligence impact students, teachers, and institutions?
  • How can Artificial Intelligence be introduced to students at every level of learning?
  • How can Artificial Intelligence enhance the skills of the students and help them thrive as responsible citizens?
  • How can we ensure Artificial Intelligence is adopted ethically?

Our Education Protocol will further unravel how learnings can be re-engineered. We will further ponder on the implications of AI in terms of ethics, safety, sustainability, scalability, and employability of the students.
